Presentation about smart bioprocessing strategies for fusion proteins at PepTalk 2018 in San Diego, CA

January 3, 2018 Presentation about smart bioprocessing strategies for fusion proteins at PepTalk 2018 in San Diego, CA

“Design, structure and manufacturability: Lessons learned from fusion proteins”

At the beginning of the new year, Rentschler Biopharma will be present at the 17th PepTalk: The Protein Science Week. The conference will take place in San Diego from January 08-12, 2018 and will attract an estimated number of more than 1,300 experts from around the world. Rentschler Biopharma’s representative Detra Glinatsis, Director Business Development, will be at the conference to discuss high quality GMP manufacturing solutions for monoclonal antibodies, fusion proteins, and other recombinant proteins at Booth No. 416.

Furthermore, Stefan R. Schmidt, Rentschler Biopharma’s CSO, will give a lecture titled “Design, structure and manufacturability: Lessons learned from fusion proteins” on January 8th at 2:05 pm.

He will highlight a selection of next generation proteins. As these designed molecules are naturally not found in living organisms and have not undergone natural selection, they can pose challenges such as low expression, misassembly and misfolding, disulfide scrambling, a tendency to aggregate, and sensitivity to protease degradation.

As part of the presentation, Stefan R. Schmidt will show examples from Rentschler Biopharma’s project portfolio and from the literature demonstrating how to avoid these product-related impurities by smart fusion protein design and strategies to eliminate these impurities in efficient bioprocesses.
