Rentschler attended the largest European protein and antibody engineering conference

Rentschler Biopharma news the seventh annual Bioprocessing Summit in Boston from 3rd to 7th August 2015

Presentation at the PEGS Europe

As in the past years, we also have participated in the "PEGS Europe Protein & Antibody Engineering Summit" in 2016. This conference is growing from year to year, underlining the importance of European companies in the global biopharmaceutical industry.

This year's conference took place from 30th October to 4th November 2016 in Lisbon, Portugal and brought together more than 800 experts. More than 200 presentations and about 140 posters on the development and production of protein therapeutics provided the base for scientific-technological discussion.

Rentschler's presentation entitled "Molecular properties of antibodies and its derivatives impacting manufacturing" was presented by Dr. Stefan R. Schmidt, Vice President of Process Science & Production.

Designed antibody formats such as bispecific antibodies are playing an increasing role in the development of new protein therapeutics. Their particular properties can increase the efficacy of medicines and significantly reduce the required quantities. However, it can occur various effects such as aggregations or chemical modifications which complicate the protein purification.

An appropriate approach to reducing these complications is the careful evaluation of all process parameters taking into account the molecular properties. This allows finding optimal settings for the initial capture step. With this approach, Rentschler has already gained extensive experience. Based on the approach, various antibody formats can be manufactured with high quality.
